I (Elayne) have always been a creator and entrepreneur. Starting with paper airplanes and boats sold to family members, I soon moved up in skill to loom knit beanies. I have a passion for creating with my hands, and people love what I make so how could I not sell it? 

When I was 14 I decided to try my hand at woodworking. My dad has a woodshop and I asked him to show me how to make a birdhouse. After I made about a dozen of them along with many many other original projects I was hooked. I love the creativity I get to express. I love the problem solving aspect that makes my pieces unique. I love the smell of wood and seeing my creations bring others joy. 

What really caught my attention was the lathe. I had never used one before so naturally I wanted to try. When I was 16 I got ahold of a mini lathe and started tinkering. Necklaces, bowls, and eventually pens a year later. These intricate projects really let my attention to detail and artistic flair shine. I love creating and it brings me so much happiness when others love what I make. 

The summer of 2024 I quite my full-time job as a 3s preschool teacher and decided to focus on my wood working business, WoodJoys at the time. Within a month of switching careers I met Sam and we started dating soon after. Now I’m not only trying to figure out my own life, but what it looks like with a man in it!

A little later we get engaged and decide yes, we will pursue this business and use the talents and resources that have been given to us. So we launch WoodJoysStudio. Sam has been such an encouragement to me on this journey of small business ownership and I can’t wait to be his partner in life.

We share a passion of serving our Lord Jesus Christ and through that loving others. We hope this business will give us flexibility in life as we spend time and resources pouring into others.
